Things have been happening lately so a full blog post is in order apart from my tumblr. This past weekend we threw a renovated version of DRAW&BASS to release the newest Retinal zine. Lots of people came out and I had a great time. It was nice to see people walking around with my work in hand.

Here are some pictures:

Thanks to everyone involved and everyone who attended. Special thanks to So and Yoshi of Artistic Anarchy for organizing and helping Ben and I make this happen. You guys are super great. I’m excited to do another one!

I’ve already posted this stuff on my tumblr, but again, some of my pieces for the zine:

The stuff I did for the zine was heavily inspired by Masamune Shirow and Ghost in the Shell, obviously. Now that the book is finished and the night is done, I find myself wanting more. The next zine will be in the works very soon, Ben has already provided a tentative theme that will be revealed at a later date. I’m hoping to get a couple more contributors for this one, so I’m keeping my eyes open for possibilities.

I’m also trying to get a weekly drink and draw thing happening to help keep the community creative juices flowing. Plus, it’s always nice to socialize.

For now, I’m just going to relax and watch Gintama. I have some catching up to do. A friend suggested this Ben-to series as well. It’s so much fun! It’s about fight clubs in grocery stores where people battle over  half-priced bento boxes. Awesome.

Thats all for now!

That time of year…

April 6, 2011

Hello, I figure its about time to post some stuff! And maybe this time a year won’t go by before I decide to do it again. I’m working on lots of things right now so I’m going to try and do this more often… Lately, I’ve been really lacking in the amount-of-drawing-being-done department. Going to art-school I find my self ironically not drawing very often, which is crazy. Mostly because I’m lazy, but I’m working on that.

First up some sketchbook stuff. Mostly some girls. Some boobs and stuff.

The other day I received a copy of the MEC anniversary catalogue and it had a bunch of 70′s camping photos and stuff that were kind of cool. So I drew this camping man, he’s hiking through the brush and passing through some sort of teched out scanner thing.

I’m also hard at work putting together a series of drawings for a zine that my BFF Ben and I are putting together. It’s called Retinal and will be done soonish. The drawings will have a wildelifey feel to them with a hint of some other things. Below is an idea I’m working on for said series:

He’s like a deer-lantern combo.

I’m super addicted to watching Gintama right now, it’s hands down my favorite Shonen series. It’s mostly a comedy, but when it decides to get serious, it packs more of an emotional punch than any other Shonen stuff (in my opinion).

Lastly… If you like low key electronic music and haven’t listened already please listen to me and Ben’s mixes and check the TNNLVSN page for upcoming details on Retinal and our planned drink and draw event/ zine release party!

Me and stuff.

January 19, 2010

Quick self portrait I did today. Although I feel it doesn’t really look too much like me. That’s okay, at least I did something productive. I’ve also decided I like to stand and work when possible, it’s important to use your legs.

Best album I’ve heard in a long time.

I’m finished with winter already, I feel as though I rarely see the light of day. I guess that’s what happens when you take the subway and work in a windowless dungeon. Only two or so more months of misery. That’s alright though. It’s the perfect time to stay indoors and play Kingdom Hearts, which I recently started. Who knew the combination of Disney and Final Fantasy could result in such a wonderful world to explore. I regret writing it off initially. Below are rough sketches of some elephants for a collage type thing I’m working on. I really should start using a scanner.

Also, here is a quick one of White from Tekkonkinkreet, a manga by one of my favorite artists, Taiyo Matsumoto.

Speaking of Tekkonkinkreet, my friend recently returned from a brief trip home to Tokyo and gifted me this shirt. For which I am very grateful.

I have not posted a single thing in quite some time now. Truth is, I haven’t been doing much lately, but I’m working on it. Sometimes it’s hard to find motivation, inspiration yadda yadda. I really think I’ve just been looking in the wrong places for a long time. So it’s time to pull up my socks, stop screwing up and screwing around. Time to get it together, art, life, and everything important to me. I’m also in Cambridge for the weekend, relaxing, missing someone, and clearing my head. I didn’t intend on the clearing my head part, but that sort of just happened. New art coming very soon.

I put this design together this morning for Harbour. I didn’t have an abundance of time, but I think it turned out nicely. It’ll be the first shirt they have printed so I’m pretty pumped about it.  Also I will be doing some work for a band called Social Blonde Hair, expect chaos, check them out if you get a chance. I will post links below.

In other business, I sadly missed out on the first round of “Sunday Sluts” a weekly event I had planned with my friend Ben. It will for sure go down next week though, so stay tuned. In the meantime check out Ben’s slut of the week, it’s good and vulgar.

Harbour EP Cover

March 31, 2009

Today’s post is a cd cover for a certain pal’s band. This is a collab between my friend Anna and myself. I pretty much only did up the little wolf baby head and provided input and whatnot for the rest. It’s some metal-ish stuff, so if your into it download it, its free!!!(link below). Also, on a non art related note, I’ve decided to try and bring tamagotchis back. They were once a very popular digital friend, so my question is, who’s taking care of all these needy pixelated pets? The answer, me, and anyone else who wants to help these little guys. They must be so hungry.

Here is a drawing of Ai Maehara I recently did. I’m not sure what I’ll do with it, but I thought I’d throw the preliminary work up here anyway. Enjoy.
